 Tuesday

This morning Darryl made us waffles. He went out and plowed some driveways. Carol and I knitted most of the day at the kitchen table. I worked on a  funky sock. She worked on finishing a baby sweater.

Carol made homemade Mac and cheese for supper. I made buffalo cauliflower. We also had a salad and cookies for dessert.

We watched Some TV and went to bed. I did take some time to just sit and watch it snow. When we lived in Soringville, I always wanted to just sit, and watch it snow, but I would be busy, and at the end of the day I would realize that I never did it. Today I did it, and I hope to do it tomorrow too.

Monday

At my brother's house in Angola, NY

My niece, Rose, and Nephew, Danny, missed their school bus this morning, so Darryl took them to school. At about 9:45 we left for the funeral for Carol's brother, Vinnie. At the funeral home, I watched 3-year-old Billy in another room. We looked at pictures on the walls, made faces in a mirror, and played some games on my phone. After the service we went to the cemetery. A winter storm was just starting. On the way home we stopped at the Tim Horton's drive-thru for coffee and donuts.

Back at the house, we enjoyed our treats and visited. Then Darryl went to get new tires on his truck. Carol pulled out a quilt and I quilted. She also pulled out a knitting project she was a little stuck on. Darryl put the plow back on his truck.

The kids came home from school. We ate delicious leftover lasagna from yesterday for supper. Rose did some homework. I kept peeking out the window at the snow blowing around, an official blizzard, -2 degrees with high winds. The lights flickered once, but luckily we didn't lose power.

We watched a little TV and went to bed.

Sunday

I slept for 2 hours last night while traveling. It took us 26 hours but we made it to Becky's house. I showered, had a good cup of tea with Becky, and then Grandpa Bob and Helen picked me up and took me to Angola, to my brother and sister-in-law's.

Carol made delicious lasagna and a broccoli salad for supper, and brownies. Yum!! Her parents and two of her boys were there for supper. Then we all went to the funeral home.

It's cold outside and getting colder. My feet are cold. The temp is dropping 41 degrees. Tomorrow night's low is -2 degrees. That's crazy!!

Saturday

I guess in a way it's a good time to go to NY, because the forecast in the Keys is rain for the whole time I'm gone.

I got up and did my devos. I almost went walking but I didn't know exactly when they wanted to leave, so I didn't. Then I was glad I decided not to because it started raining and Tom said it rained all day.

I ate my oatmeal for breakfast, then I stuffed a salad into a ziplock bag, romaine lettuce, carrots, and celery. I don't use any dressing so it will be finger food. I also packed an orange, an apple, and a pear. I made some homemade Lara bars in my Ninja, chopped cashews, dates, and coconut. I rolled a few into balls and put them in a ziplock bag. I also took a bottle of water.

We left at 10:30 AM. Becky drove first. We only stopped to gas up and use the bathrooms. I crocheted most of the daylight hours and listened to a book on my phone.

Florida is a long state, but finally we made it into Georgia and South Carolina. We are about halfway through SC now. I had to put my sweatshirt on. Last winter I don't remember getting a cold. I'm hoping I don't catch one up here.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I mean the Doerfel home for overprivileged kids, their afternoon gig was cancelled because of the rain, so they all did chores. Someone from church came over and helped Tom fix the heater on the hot tub. The gang  went to their gig at the Hurricane, then TJ brought the younger kids home half way through, then he took Charlie to his house to spend the night.

Oh, I almost forgot. Garrett got in trouble this morning for staying up most of the night on the computer. He was supposed to get his phone any day now, but Tom postponed it since he is being so irresponsible.

Friday

I got up with the alarm so I could get ready to go to the early gig at Blue Heaven. Callie went with us so I watched her. We left at 8:30. The gig was 10am-2pm. We got home about 3:30.

Kim needed help beaming a warp on her loom, so Tom and I went over there. We brought Tommy with us. He needed to get away. He had a rough day with brothers and me gone all day. Tom put up one of Kim's track lights while we were there.

We hurried home to get ready to leave for the gig at the Hurricane in Marathon. Becky's family all came and we had supper there. I was sooo tired. I probably shouldn't have gone. Luckily, Becky's crew didn't want to stay till 1 am so I was home around 10 or 10:30.

I packed to leave for NY in the morning. We are driving 25 hours straight, 5 of us in a focus. I don't really have cold weather clothes. I've got a pair of jeans from Salvation Army. We'll see how it goes.

The younger boys, Garrett on down and Aaron, took about 3 hours to go to sleep. Grrrr!!!!

Thursday

I made myself go walking, but only ran 1 lap. I just don't like running. I know that I can do two laps, so I figure I am just lazy.

Today Becky's family went kayaking. I babysat and cleaned outta closet. There's still too much stuff, but a little less now. I also folded laundry and watered my plants. I cleaned half my bathroom. Tom went to TJ's and fixed his toilet. Then he went to Kim's studio to put up the track lighting that we got her for Christmas. Becky and crew went to Key West to watch the sunset.

All the kids spent most of the day at the church at a meeting and then setting up for the kick-off of the the new youth group, OMY. I got tired of working at the house and ordered Stromboli for a treat. I went to Winn Dixie, bought bananas, and then picked up the Stromboli.

It was so hot in the house while I sat at the table and ate. No one was home but me. Peace. Then TJ asked if Callie could come over for a little. So she came over and helped me load the dishwasher, load the clothes dryer, and then we read a few books.

Angelica picked her up. TJ and Joe went to work with Fran tonight. A few kids came home from the church and ate spaghetti, then went back to the church. Rob came up. He and Tom went to the park and skated. Then we ate.

I drew an octopus to applique on Jake's quilt. I did the dishes. Rob and Tom watched a hockey game. Then Becky got back. We are going to Blue Heaven in the morning. I'm not sure if I can go now, since Joe is working tonight. He's going to be really tired and I'm not sure he should babysit in the morning.

I'm hitching a ride with Becky to NY. They are leaving on Saturday. Not looking forward to the cold.

Wednesday

Since it was New Year's Day I decided to be different and not walk. :0) Becky's family went to Theater of the Sea in Islamorada. I considered going with them but decided to stay home. Good thing, too, because I told TJ I would babysit. The band had an afternoon gig with Angelica at Sunset Pier.

I did some laundry, colored with Callie, and finished sewing the lace on my sheet. I also started fixing Jake's quilt that Kim and I made him. A dog had chewed a hole in it. I put new batting in the hole. I'm going to appliqué an octopus where the hole was.

They got back from their gig, and TJ and Angelica took the kids home. Nina, Charlie, and I walked to church for supper and Bible study. Tom wasn't ready to go and I strongly dislike being late.

After church we came home and watched a movie. Charlie really wanted to watch "Arthur Christmas." It was funny, but halfway thru I was just too tired and went to bed.
