April 28, 2016

Thursday

I drove my truck to Dick's shop and they put in my back seats that were shipped here by the precious owner. On the way home I stopped at Winn Dixie and bought some food for Joe. I stopped at his house, dropped off the food, and visited  a little. Georgina picked up Charlie for swimming.

The kids set up for youth group and spent the whole evening at the church. I cleaned up my room and did laundry. I also repotted another plant.

I had some time to sit on my wicker swing and knit. It is so relaxing.

April 27, 2016

Wednesday

I went walking this morning but it wasn't a great walk. A dumb rooster that is always by the road in front of someone's house charged at me twice. A few minutes later a deer ran straight at me and then turned when it was a few feet away. After that a big Pepsi truck went flying by me too close. He was on a blind curve so I can understand him not moving over, but the speed limit is only 25 mph. He was going to fast and I was off the road. Then I was scared to pass by the guard rooster on the way back home, but he was no where to be seen.

Since Charlie fell asleep so many times yesterday I decided to let him sleep. He slept till 3:30. I'm not sure if he was sick or stayed up most of the night on a gadget.

Tommy had classes and I went over math with  him. Tom and I picked up Callie and Violet and took them to church. TJ had a gig at Hogfish with someone else and took Jake. After church Tom went to Bob's apartment because the electric had gone off. I did lots of dishes, swept the kitchen floor, and spot cleaned it.

April 26, 2016

Tuesday

Today we had our first fiddle group lesson that I was in charge of. I wasn't sure how it would go, but it went great. TJ and Kim came and helped and made it great. I set it up like a bluegrass jam and I think the kids had fun. Tj was able to give a little bit of theory and Kim gave fiddle pointers. Tom came late and played the bass.

We went home and got ready for gym class. I drove Tommy and Charlie to Marathon and dropped them off. Then I went to Home Depot. I bought some bins to store stuff under my bed. I picked the boys up at the park, and we headed back to Big Pine, where I was to drop Charlie off to go to swimming with Georgina. Charlie had forgotten his swim stuff but Ed drove it to the church and met me there.

The band went to Schooner Wharf. They needed Tommy to work the lights so he didn't get his homework done. I did dishes and laundry and a little Latin. I picked up Charlie and we stopped at Winn Dixie. We bought chicken wings and ice cream.

April 25, 2016

Monday

Ed kept Tommy and Charlie out late last night, hanging out with some of the Walker family, so I let Charlie sleep in. Tommy's first class was at 11 and he was 10 minutes late. I had my quiet time and  knitted two rows, just for fun, before eating my oatmeal.

Yesterday Byron and Aida brought me a dresser, so today I moved things around in my room and moved my craft stuff out of plastic drawer bins and into the dresser. I made a salad and packed up for Sloppy's. I dropped Charlie off at Georgina's for swimming and then drove to Tjs to pick he and Jake up for the gig. Kurt ended up there too, and then we met Tom and everyone else at the church, where we downsized to 2 vehicles and then proceeded to the gig.

Randy and Mikki were there with some friends. It was busy. Charlie and Jake weren't getting along too well. I should have worn a referee jersey.

Here's some pics from my shaving brush tree. It hasn't had any flowers for a few years but now it finally does, and the first bud opened today.

April 22, 2016

Friday

I've walked three times this week but not today. I hate to admit it, but both my knees and one ankle were a little achy yesterday and today.  They never bother me so it's weird.

It rained a little this morning. Today was a slow-motion kind of day for me. Ed dropped Tommy off at Bob's to sign for a package that was coming. I wanted him to take some school books and study for his 3 tests he had due by midnight tonight, but he forgot them. Grrrr.

I woke Charlie up about 10 times before he finally got up at noon. I repotted my two little pink jasmine plants. I made pizza dough for later in the day. When Charlie finally got up we did art. Next I picked Tommy up from Bob's house, and then put the pizza together, vegetable pizza with no cheese. I tried to leave at 4 o'clock to babysit at Tjs, but my truck felt like it had a flat tire, so I parked it and borrowed Ed's van. It made me very sad.

Tj and angelica played at Hogfish. Ed, Ben, and Kurt took Jake with them to a Panthers' playoff game on the mainland, so I watched just the girls, even baby Hazel. Charlie was with me too. I brought two pizzas with me and left one home for Tommy. Tommy rode his bike to church for his lesson and then he worked at movie night. Tjs neighbors are soooo loud. At one point someone let out a yell like an Indian on the warpath. Crazy!

The girls were all good and Hazel was pretty easy, but when I got home Tommy had only two of his tests turned in and only 45 minutes left to do the last one. He ended up not finishing it till after midnight so now it is late. He makes me mad. He had plenty of time today to get everything handed in on time.

Tom worked all day painting at Pine Avenue. He got home close to midnight. We both ate a salad for our bedtime snack.

April 19, 2016

Tuesday

It was windy and chilly (72 degrees) on the porch this morning so I had my quiet time inside. I went walking and did school with Charlie. I was able to knit a little while Charlie did his online history class. Then I dropped him off at church with Georgina to go to swimming. I hurried back home and we jumped in the GMC and sped off to Sloppy Joes.

Ed and Joe were already in Key West to see the Walker Boys play at Blue Heaven, and TJ and Angelica were grocery shopping at Publix, so Ed picked up TJ and Jake there, and met us at the gig.

Mikki and Randy came to the show, and Noel Skiba too. (I have two of her paintings) . We are going to try to get together before she goes back to Michigan.

Here's two pics I took on my porch this morning.

April 18, 2016

Monday

I woke up before 7. That's just what I want. I had my quiet time on the porch and then went walking. I did school with Charlie and then Georgina picked him up. They went kayaking and then to swimming.

I did some more Latin and took the first test. I got a 98! I put a few more plants in pots and then it was time to go to Sloppy Joes. It was busy and a little loud. I took the younger boys for gelato and then bought myself a cookie. Now we are driving home and I'm very tired.

April 17, 2016

Sunday

We went to church. Kim stopped in afterwards and picked up some beads. I cleaned off my dresser and emptied one more bin that was into room. There's still two more to go. I decided to get an armoire to put my craft stuff in. Then I can get rid of the plastic bin/drawers that they are in now.

Ed was going to have some friends over in the evening for supper so I went to Winn Dixie and bought him food. When I got home he texted me that they had to change their plans and couldn't come.

Tom and I went to Mikki and Randy's to watch the race. Charlie was at a friend's house and Ed and Joe were in KW playing with Nina's band.

Tom went to our class at church and Tommy went to work. I stayed at Miikki's and watched the race with them. Then I went home and did some Latin homework. I had to go pick up Charlie from his friend's house and when we got home I went to bed.

Saturday

A recap of the last few days...

Wednesday

Randy and Mikki invited Charlie and I to the beach at Bahia Honda so we went. Tom got my new/used Denali on the road. Yay!!The boys had meetings and then practiced.  Then they went to their gig at Sunset Pier.  The rest of us went to church.

Thursday

I went walking with Mikki, then we did school. The house was busy, big kids coming and going so it was hard. Ed got his new/used minivan on the road. I dropped Charlie off at church for swimming and Tommy at church for his guitar lesson and then youth group. I went over to Kim's to hang out for the evening. I practiced my tambour embroidery. I left there close to 9 and stopped at Winn Dixie for groceries. I bought some pizzas for supper. Tom watched hockey. I made food and put away the groceries.

Friday

I walked and did school. The band, Garrett, and Charlie went to Schooner Wharf and Bobby and I went to Boondocks for supper. I did dishes and then did Garrett's taxes online. I had hoped to do something fun, embroidery or sewing, but went over math lessons with Tommy and proofread his science experiment report. I went over a little Latin but was too tired and went to bed.

Saturday

Tom said Joe had a seizure last night at the end of the gig, but it sounded more like an anxiety attack to me. We are talking about having him move back home. Emma got here last night too, so she and Ben made waffles this morning.

I watered plants, went over math with Tommy, and did laundry. Kim needed help at the studio so Charlie and I went over there for about an hour. We came home and I folded laundry. The band left for Schooner and shortly after that Mikki and Randy picked me up, and then Doug and Roberta, and we all went to Schooner Wharf. It was a fun evening, but when I got home I had to finish folding laundry and put away the clothes.

April 12, 2016

Tuesday

I went walking. Then Ed helped me and we hung pictures on the walls. I watered plants and did a little school with Charlie. Tom dropped Charlie of at church and he went to swimming with Georgina.

I made coconut black beans (with mango), rice, and a salad for supper. The boys played hockey and we ate just after 9 PM. Then they played cards.

I'm itching to do some embroidery but don't have anything ready. I should start a new baby dress.

I need groceries again. I know it's bad when even the carrot drawer is empty. I can never figure out a day and time to go that works for me. I don't want to go during school, and from about 3-7 pm it's been too busy at Winn Dixie, although many of the tourists are gone now. And I don't want to spend my evening in the store either. What's a girl to do?

(There's still some clutter on the floor by the piano, and it needs to be tuned bad. Ben tuned a few of the really bad notes.)

April 11, 2016

Monday

I had a late start but went walking anyway. I got all the documents together for Tom to take Garrett to get his driver's permit. The boys practiced at the studio. I did a little school with Charlie, but then Tom had to leave early to take Charlie to swimming and go to the bank.

I watered plants and did another chapter of Latin. Then the boys got home and we left for Sloppy Joes. It was busy all night.

Check out these pineapples growing on my porch.

April 10, 2016

Sunday

I woke up early enough to spend some time on the porch before church. Then I did dishes and woke people up for church. After church Kim came over, but we didn't get to visit too long. Charlie was invited to a friend's house so Tom and I took him and Kim went home.

On our way home we stopped at Walgreens and then Tom Thumb, where our son, Bobby,  is the manager. Tom got gas and I got water. Then we went to the shop that had the black car and Tom drove it over to TJ's. He decided not to spend $700 to get it fixed and wants to sell it as is. We visited there a little and left.

Our last stop was at a benefit at Coconuts for a local pastor who was in a head-on crash a few months ago on the 7 mile bridge. Some of our friends were playing in the bands, and we knew quite a few people and met some new ones. I wanted to stay about am hour. I just wanted to go home. I had things I wanted to do, and the house was a mess, but Tom was having a great time talking and I finally had to drag him out at 7 o'clock. And the only reason he really left was because it was time to play hockey with the boys. When we got home Bambi was taking a siesta at the back of our house.

I watered a few plants and then read and did the homework for three chapters in Tommy's Latin book. The boys came home from hockey and we had a conference call for some business stuff. Ed and Ben went to Kurt's. I checked Tommy's homework assignments for tomorrow and put a few things away in the kitchen. It's a mess out there. Nobody cares. They just walk right through it. It can wait till tomorrow, or the next day, or the next.

Saturday

A few highlights for the last few days...

Thursday

I went walking with Mikki and we walked 5 miles. I took Charlie to swim practice and when I got home the piano was in the living room. A few of the boys moved it in the back of Doug's truck.

Friday

The deer got in the garbage last night and spread it all over the road. It's so embarrassing to be out there picking up garbage. But I don't need to be embarrassed. I didn't do it, I just cleaned it up.  The GMC had a flat tire this morning. Ed drove the Tahoe to Key West to look at a minivan and he bought it. He drove it home and later got a ride with Rob back to KW to get the Tahoe. He forgot the Keys so Nina ended up giving him a ride home. It was 1 AM by the time he got home.

I didn't have a good day. I did art with Charlie and moved some quilting fabric from bins in my bedroom into the storage benches in the kitchen. I re-potted my shaving brush tree. It has buds on it for the first time since I bought it, 3 or 4 years ago.

Saturday

I watched Hazel for the first time for about 1 1/2 hours. When I went downstairs to get her there was a deer under the house. He came up to about 4 feet from me and was hard to shoo away. He finally went thru the middle of a 10 speed bike like a dog jumping thru a hoop.

Kim came over with the boys. We hung out for a while, then went to Mikki's house for supper and to watch the race. The race was on rain delay and then I was too tired to watch the whole thing so we went home at 11.

The last pic is Tom's "idea" from fixing my plumbing  about a week or two ago.

April 6, 2016

Wednesday

I went walking and did a full day of school. When Charlie practiced his fiddle I playedy flute. I also transplanted a few plants today. The porch is looking pretty.

We went to church in the evening. Grandpa Bob and Grandma Helen were there. They are leaving in a few days for NY. Afterwards we met Natalie over at Ave C with her mom and dad. When I got home I had no energy left and I had a hard time falling asleep.

April 5, 2016

Tuesday

I went walking and had a little time to sit on the porch before starting school. Today the guys came and installed our bathroom mirror. They also replaced the upper glass in the big boys' bedroom window.

Charlie was naughty again today with his schoolwork so I took his iPad away for another week.

Kurt dropped Charlie off at swimming on the way to Sloppy's and Tom had to go pick him up.  I watched jake and Callie at the gig. Tj stayed for the first two sets.

April 4, 2016

Monday

As soon as I stepped out the door to go walking it started to rain. I changed gears and started school with Charlie, but all his gears were in reverse and he did not want to do school. He was naughty, naughty, naughty. He dragged everything out so we hardly got anything done.

About 3:30 the band left for Sloppy's but not me. I watched Callie and Violet and took them with me to Charlie's swim class. The girls were very good. When we got home we made pizza and brownies. We read some books and they watched some cartoons. We also watched the band for a while on Sloppy's webcam. Tj picked the girls up after the gig.

April 2, 2016

Saturday

Charlie amd I went to the beach at Bahia Honda. On our way home we stopped at TJ's to see how they were doing moving the plants from the porch. Doug let us use his truck. They were doing fine. We helped till it was done, then I went inside to see baby Hazel and Angelica.

When we got home we unloaded the plants. The big boys went to the church to practice. Tom and Garrett went back to Ave C to get the two big palm trees and my favorite big tree that I don't know the name of. Tom and I gave Joe a ride to KW, stopped at Home Depot for plant pots and potting soul, and then stopped at Boondocks for supper. When we got home we found that the deer had already found my plants and had eaten quite a bit. I moved some that were untouched up to the porch.

April 1, 2016

Friday

Today is the anniversary of Tom and my first date.

This past week has flown by. My parents were here. Angelica's mom came to visit them. My mom helped me recover my teacher/everything chair. My dad helped Tom hang two of my chairs downstairs. I took TJ and Angelica's kids overnight while they were in the hospital having a baby. It's a little girl, Hazel Elizabeth, born March 31.

I also finished Angelica's quilt yesterday.

I helped Tommy with a paper today, 750 words, 8 paragraphs, on a 4 line poem that was hard to decipher. It was a hard one and when we printed it off it grouped the lines into twos. I finally typed the whole thing over for him because we couldn't get it to print right. It's happened before and I don't have a clue why it does it.

I took a pic of the Key Deer in our yard. You would think we live in a wildlife refuge. Oh yeah, we do. There are Bambi's everywhere.

Ed's really enjoying the boat ride on Mikki and Randy's boat.
