October 11, 2013

I skipped my walk this morning. I just needed to slow down. We did our schoolwork and Charlie went to the beach again with his friends.

Tom's cousin Peggy and her husband Bruce came into town. They picked me up on their way into Key West and we met Tom down there. The band had a gig on Big Pine so they headed there, at Bistro 31.

In KW, we walked to Mallory Square and saw Catman. We went to Duetto's for supper. We stopped in at Lazy Gecko for a few minutes. The music was soooo loud. We even saw our favorite banjo playing Darth Vader. We might practice our banjo playing together sometime. On our way back to Peggy's cottage we stopped at Blue Heaven. It was their first night open since their break. We said hi to Hanrow and then called it an evening. Before we left KW we stopped at Dairy Queen. Now I am so sleepy, I can't wait to go to bed.

Thursday

I took my walk, made pancakes, and headed for Winn Dixie. I bought cupcake stuff and came home and made them. I was so glad that some of the kids did chores while I was gone, especially for Nina, who did the dishes.

I wrapped Charlie and Ariel's presents, and Jonathan helped me decorate the Minions. Nina and I walked over to Salvation Army but neither of us bought anything. There was a piano there today.

I watered my plants. Tom got home and we put everything in the van, including hockey equipment. Ed and Nina took their van and we all met up at Rob's for the birthday party.  Anastasia made us all supper. We had a great night. Rob took the kids swimming. Then the hockey players went to Key West and the rest of us went home.

I paid bills, did laundry, and cleaned my bathroom. I'm up too late again. What's a girl to do?

Wednesday

Went for my walk and got school started. We finished at 3:00 and I went to Kim's to weave. I wove on the newer loom and everything was awkward. It took two hours for me to start feeling comfortable on it. The old one takes a lot more muscle. You almost have to be gentle with the newer one. I'm putting up a pic of a wrap that we just finished. I did most of the weaving on it. :0)

Charlie went with me to Kim's. When we left there we picked up Bobby and took him out for supper. Then we hurried to take him home and get to church. The older kids spent the day recording and practicing. They also led worship tonight.

I was going to go to Winn Dixie after church, to buy birthday cupcake stuff, but I was too tired. When I got home, I climbed into my bed and slept without changing into my pjs. It was just 9:30.

October 8, 2013

I was on a time frame today. I slept in 15 min so had to shorten my walk by one lap so I could get to Kim's by 10. I woke up the boys and told them to eat and do their independent work.

I wove from 10-12. I left for home and Kim left to meet Doug for lunch. I picked up the younger boys and Jonathan for gym class, but before we left we had to get gas. A little Doerfel trivia: Cheryl never pumps gas. So Jonathan and Garrett had to help me. I always push the wrong buttons at the pump. I can't even get the gas cap off the van. That's why I never pump gas. :0)

Anyways, we made it to gym class. The kids had a great time and I had a great time visiting other homeschool moms.

When we got home, I grabbed a piece of homemade bread with hummus and headed to Tai Chi. I kind of didn't want to go. I just wanted to stay home, maybe vedge, maybe play catch-up. I'm glad I went though.

Next was a visit to Winn Dixie. Back home, I made pizza dough and chopped veggies. I ordered 4 pizzas for the kids.

The older boys spent all day at the studio with Anthony. Then they played hockey at the park. Rob came up and played hockey too. Then we all ate together. I did a little embroidery while they watched a hockey game. I threw in a load of laundry and finished the dishes. I  am so ready for bed.

October 7, 2013

Went for my walk. We got our schoolwork done, which is unusual for a Monday. I packed my lunch and gave Garrett and Jonathan $20 so they could buy pizza or something for their dinner.

The kids had a great show. It was fun but I got tired the last set. After we packed the trailer we had a birthday party for Ariel in Sloppy's parking lot. Then we drove home.

October 6, 2013

I slept horribly last night. I kept having bad dreams and waking up. I finally woke up and stayed up, before my alarm. I got myself ready for church, then woke up Tommy and Charlie. We went to an earlier service because we had an invitation to go out on a friends boat.  The boat motor wouldn't start so we couldn't go out.

So instead, we watched the movie, Holes, and then went to the Sugarloaf Lodge to swim and go to a benefit. We had a good time.

At 5, I drove home to change clothes and then rode back down the Keys with Tom and Joe. We picked up tommy and Charlie, and their friend Ailsa.

Most of the band was already at the gig. They had a gig beforehand. It was a good night. I took Charlie (today is his birthday-8) to Duetto's for gelato and bought myself some affegatto, tiramisu gelato with espresso poured over. It's my new favorite.

On the way home we dropped of Ailsa. I gave the boys 1/2 hour turn playing video games and we went to bed.

October 5, 2013

I overslept again. Boy am I tired lately. I went thru my routine, devos, walk, shower, oatmeal. Woke up the kids. Fed Charlie. Did some make-up school work with the kids that we didn't finish.

The band left for their gig. Garrett and his friend Jonathan exchanged our kitchen table with TJ and Ang's from downstairs. The band showed up home, turns out the job had something else going on and forgot to cancel. They will still get paid though so that is great. It turned the house back into a whirlwind of activity.  By 3:00 I was ready to go to Kim's and weave. But, I hadn't had a chance to eat lunch. I texted Kim and told her I was on my way, and she said she had just woken up from a nap. I was going to stop at Winn Dixie for a sub but Ed, Nina, and Ben were at the Chinese restaurant with Sahara so I joined them. They were all done eating so I ate their leftovers.

Then off to Kim's. I wove 3 feet and returned home to get ready for the gig. On the way to the Hurricane I sat in the passenger seat and Nina drove. She got her permit recently. She did great.

Some new friends had dinner with us and stayed at the hurricane for about 3 hours. It was a fun evening. I just wish it wasn't so late.
