I still wasn't with it today. I made granola and took Garrett for a haircut. We went to Gym class. Tom drove us. Afterwards we stopped at Home Depot and I bought a flowering Vinca plant for $0.99. Then we stopped and looked at kayaks but they were too expensive.
When we got home I put away my produce and started supper and some kitchen clean-up. I made Spicy Black bean soup, a salad, and chopped up 2 small watermelons. It's still a mess out there.
Rob came up and the boys played hockey.
Ed went to the dentist today. He had pain still from his crown. There were problems. Food and dentil floss stuck in there. He was still bleeding when he got home, and still bleeding after hockey. I had him ice it, and then put a wet tea bag on it. The bleeding finally slowed down.

Monday
We have been go, go, going for a few days and this morning I stopped. We had a double Thursday and Friday. Saturday and Sunday were full. We are always out late. I'm tired. I need to, and want to, stay home. I need to clean my room and clear off my desk.
The first thing I did was load the dishwasher and wash dishes. The kitchen was trashed and doing dishes is the most hated chore of the kids. I thought they might enjoy picking chores more today if the dish job was eliminated.
This morning there was no fruit for oatmeal. I could have used dried fruit and I found one pear in the fridge but I just needed something else, like the breakfast fairy spreading out a Buffett. But she must have gotten lost. Nina made French toast for a few people so I made some for Tommy, Charlie, and me. Nina and Ed cleaned the living room and the bathroom. I think they are the only ones who did chores today. I'll crack the whip tomorrow. No energy today.
Since I couldn't get my act together, the boys acted like they were doing school and I went in the hot tub. Charlie joined me. I showered and went to Winn-Dixie for fruit, granola ingredients, soy and almond milk, and Greek yogurt for Tom.
When I got back, I had a half hour to put stuff away, make lunch for Tom and I, and get ready to leave for Sloppy Joes. And to make things worse, the schoolboys wasted their time talking and making dumb faces and throwing things at each other while I was gone. I had bought them some orange juice but didn't let them have it because they were so naughty.
While we drove I ate my leftover chard from yesterday, a new salad, and cantaloupe with mango, which was a great combination. I'll do that again. We picked up TJ at a plaza in Key West. He and Angelica had been running errands.
The show tonight was good. The crowd LOVED Orange Blossom Special! They went crazy. After the first set I took the boys for soft serve ice cream and treated myself to a $3.50 peanut butter cup from Kilwin's. That's when my day started getting better. :0)
I met a man from North Collins. That's the town where we bought our first house. He knew our old neighbors from across the street. His daughter is marrying their son, so that was pretty cool. He mentioned a murder that happened three houses away from our old house in 2010. We moved from there 19 years ago, but I was curious so I googled it, and I am wowed.
A 23 year old girl was murdered by her mother and other hideous things by her brother. I remember them. There were about 5 kids in their family. They played in our yard with our kids. I remembered their names. The one little boy had reddish hair and reminded me of the kid from the Andy Griffith Show. Sometimes a girl would come with them, and she wanted to hide. She didn't want to go home. Her brothers said she didn't want someone to see her. I can't remember who, a father or an uncle or what. It is so weird. They lived in a dumpy, scary apartment house on the corner.
I am so glad we moved away from there.
When we got home, I was so hungry. It's a bad time to be hungry, 11 o'clock at night. It makes me grumpy because I'm not going to cook but I need to eat and I don't know what to eat. The only thing made was salad and I did not want salad. I finally made a piece of toast with peanut butter and strawberries.
I let the boys watch 1/2 hour of cartoons and then shooed them off to bed at midnight.

Sunday
Went to church. It was bless the motorcycles Sunday. There were about 50 motorcycles there. When I got home I moved the laundry and got out my flute. I practiced for about 5 minutes when I got a phone call from Stacey. We talked almost 2 hours! I put my flute away and made Swiss chard, onions, walnuts, and raisins to eat on the way to Schooner Wharf. I chopped up a pineapple and a watermelon too.
Today was the Wrecker's Race. My friend Zona won in her division. She was so excited. Some friends from church were in it too. They sat with us for the awards ceremony. They came in 2nd in their division.
The weather today was gorgeous, low 80s and breezy. I can't wait to go kayaking some more. I want to go to the beach too. Don't know when.

Saturday
All the boys except Charlie went to the car wash this morning. Joe was late so he and I walked to the bank. Then I continued on to Kim's house, 3 miles. She was actually at her weaving studio. We chatted with Alice for a few minutes, and then Kim took me home.
I watched Jake and Callie while TJ and Ang went to Marathon to get their rental car. Alissa was here and she helped me move some plants around on the porch and replant a Midnight Jasmine plant. I'm creating another hangout spot with a hammock and some plants and an umbrella for shade.
We left for Sloppy Joes at 3:30. I was surprised how many people were there. It was full the whole time and they were a fun crowd.
We dropped Kurt and Liza off at her house on our way home. There was an accident in front of Mangrove Mama's. I car pulled out and was hit by a truck pulling a boat trailer. The front of the car was smashed in. It looked way worse and scarier than TJ and Angelica's.. When we went by the car was on the flat bed and they were trying to get the boat.
We stopped atWinn- Dixie for treats. I didn't go in. When we got home I went to bed and Tom talked till 4 AM.

I had my alarm set for 7:55 am but woke up at 7. It gave me time to be slow. I went to Blue Heaven with TJ, Ed, and Nina. Angelica didn't feel well so she stayed home.
Blue Heaven was great, sunny and warm but comfy in the shade. Rob met me for breakfast and I gave him his clothes that I mended. We both had the Rooster Special and even had a little chicken jump up on our table.
After Rob left, I enjoyed just sitting by myself embroidering. When we left we stopped at Ross. I bought five dresses. Two of them were only $7! I also bought a little table for out on the porch by the hammock chair, and some storage containers for the pantry. TJ and Ed ran into the Verizon store for Ben, and then we went to Ben Franklin's where I bought buttons for Callie's smocked crab dress. Then TJ drove us to the Hogfish.
Our favorite Ingrid took care of us. I sat and embroidered some more while the band played. Then Tom got a call from Angelica. She had been in an accident and crashed into a guardrail. She was on her way to the Hogfish and was just a few miles away. Tom and I hurried there to help her.
She and Jake were ok. Callie wasn't with them. She was at Connie's. The police, a fire truck, and an ambulance were there. She got all her stuff out of the car, which was totaled. After the tow truck got there we took her and Jake to the Hogfish.
I sat and embroidered some more. Jake ate French fries. Then he "played" fiddle with the band. We drove home and went to bed.

Another slow morning for me. Breakfast and school. The big kids were back to the studio with Anthony working on their new CD.
Tommy read out loud while I washed and Garrett dried dishes. We had a good day of school. Two dresses I ordered came in the mail today. I haven't tried them on yet. I hope they look good on me. I plan on doing beadwork on one of them.
At 3 PM Garrett made chocolate chip cookies to take to the Sunschoolers Talent Show tonight. The boys wanted to eat and feed Anthony so I needed to get busy. I cut up a lot of broccoli and steamed it. I made a huge salad. Charlie husked corn on the cob, and I made Chipotle & Lime Hummus. It was a yummy meal.
TJ and Ang had a gig at Blue Heaven so I watched Jake and Callie. Right after TJ left, we got in the van for the talent show. Kurt and Garrett helped out with lights and audio. Joe ran the sound. Ed and Nina recorded the event to make DVDs for everyone, and they all helped me watch Jake and Callie.
Charlie was in a skit with friends. It was so cool. The kids had written it themselves. Tommy played guitar accompanied by Ben. There was a little ballerina, some piano players, singers, another skit. It was very fun. Afterwards there were desserts and the kids had a blast running around with their friends. It really was a lot of fun.
When we got home, Callie and Jake took a bath. I mended Rob's jeans but I think they are on their last leg. He needs to buy a new pair. I asked for volunteers for dishes but didn't get one. Imagine that. :0)
I didn't want to stay up too late. Tomorrow is breakfast at Blue Heaven while some of the kids play. I can't wait!

Wednesday
I went walking first thing this morning. Today's breakfast choices were oatmeal with fruit or peanut butter toast with strawberries or bananas. Tommy finished his independent work before I started school. It makes the school part of the day go so much faster.
The older boys and the Newtons spent most of the day at the studio. They worked all day recording a live album for the Newtons. I can't wait to hear it.
I made steamed broccoli for lunch and I must have made something else but I can't remember. I know that I was tired of being in the kitchen. I did make some cookies out of 1 cup of oats and 1 banana. I mixed it in the kitchen aid, added a handful of walnuts and a handful of raisins, and baked it at 350 for 20 min I think. I liked them. The last oatmeal cookies I made tasted more like muffins. These were drier, almost crunchy.
TJ and Ang took Charlie with them to the beach. That helped our day to be more peaceful. When I finished school I started another dress for Callie. I'm excited about this one, tucks and hand embroidery. :0) I also did some alterations on Rob's sweatshirt. A few days ago I took the hoodie off. Today I took in the sides. He must be getting skinnier.
We ate at church, then had Bible study. I crocheted a little. Sewed a little more until Tom got upset about how Joe was doing his job. They work together. Joe does the computer end of the job. So Tom went to bed mad. Joe was trying to work. The printer ran out of ink in the middle of his papers he was printing. We changed it but then it wouldn't resume. He tried other ways. Nope. It would t work. He finally got it done, but I gave up trying to help. The little boys took forever getting ready for bed. I was getting frustrated. I finally got to bed, exhausted again.

I woke up early, 7ish, but I sure was slow. I tried to make myself walk but couldn't do it. Instead, I made pancakes for everyone. We didn't pick chores because the older boys wanted to get to the studio. I told them we'd do it later. Joe picked up the living room and poor Nina got dishes and there were a lot!
We did a little school work and left for gym class. Angelica and Joe came with us. I dropped them off at Fisherman's Hospital so they could talk to people about Joe getting medicaid. It didn't take them long and they joined us at the park.
It was fun hanging out with the home school moms. I really like going and the kids have a great time. After gym class, Charlie practiced a skit with friends that he is doing at the home school talent show on Thursday. That was fun too. The kids wrote it themselves and it was super good. We drove home and the water was super pretty, sparkling in the sun.
Last night I had a secret plan in my head to go to the beach this morning by myself. I was going to go to Walgreens and buy a beach umbrella and a chair. And I wanted to bring cucumbers and watermelon, but I would have had to be home by noon to go to gym class, so I will have to save it for another day.
Back home, we ate split pea soup, leftover spaghetti, and peppers for lunch. we did some more school work. TJ and Ed picked up produce for me. Ed's new electric mandolin broke so he was sad, but he called the maker and he told him how to fix it. Tom is going to help him. I laid down for about 20 minutes and then started supper. I used up 4 eggplant in our supper with rice and chickpeas, spices, and a salad.
The boys played roller hockey at the park. Angelica and Callie came up for a little bit. Rob came up for hockey too. He brought banana bread and ice cream.
We ate. Supper is at 9:00 here. We had dessert, and the boys watched the Sabres game. I crocheted and decided to have Tommy and Garrett take care of the dishes. Time to call it a night.

Monday
I slept late today, 9:30. That never happens. I dished out oatmeal and raspberries to the oatmeal eaters. I washed a few big pots leftover from last night's dinner. Tommy was up early and finished all his independent work before I even started school. Charlie finished all his work, and hopefully Garrett finished his work after we left for Sloppy's. I'll find out tomorrow when I correct it.
Joe and I ate pea soup before we left, and I brought my usual salad to eat on the drive. Kim left this morning on a trip with Doug so she wasn't with us, and TJ and Ang drove their car to Sloppy's.
Jake and Callie were so cute during the show. Jake rocked out and played his guitar behind his head, just like uncles Ben and Joe. Callie sang and when some people waved to her she waved back. She put down the mic and clapped. Then the audience clapped and she said thank you on the mic. I wish I had taken video.
After the second set I took Charlie and Tommy for gelato. Then we went back to Sloppy's to finish to show.
Nina, Naomi, Aaron, and Ian came home with us. We stopped at Winn-Dixie and bought Popsicles and ice cream. I, of course, didn't eat any. I'd love to eat a Kilwin's peanut butter cup right now, but alas, I have none. So I will have to go to bed and dream of one.

Sunday
I feel like today was two whole days.
We went to church. Ed, Nina, Naomi, Kurt, and Aaron went to play at Sunset Pier. Garrett, Tommy, and Charlie went to Jaden's house, and Tom, Joe, and I stayed home. I spun some yellow wool with sparkles for a little while. Then I moved to the kitchen and started spilt pea soup. I also chopped up a salad and ate it for lunch.
I went to Winn Dixie and picked up a few things. After putting it away I started a colorful cake. Kim stopped in for a visit. I made spaghetti. Tommy put dishes away for me and then Ben did the dishes.
Rob came up and the boys went to the park and played hockey. I put on my seamstress hat and did some sewing for Rob. I cut off the hood of a sweatshirt and finished the top of it. I'm very pleased how it turned out.
When Rob left, I did the dishes, showered, and went to bed.

Saturday
Last night I dreamt that I bought a horse, a truck, and a horse trailer, all without talking to Tom first. I was nervous about how it was going to go over with Tom. I don't have too many dreams, so it was weird.
I woke up too warm and stiff, made coffee and had some quiet time. Then I started rousing the troops to eat and get ready to leave for Earth Day at Bahia Honda.
The gig went well, but it was super hot. Ang took Jake and Callie to the beach after they sang. I went over too with Charlie.
We came home and showered. The boys watched hockey and I sat in my chair with a fan on me. I spun a little too. This project is in the yellow color way. We had 2 1/2 hours to relax before we went to the next gig.
We took two vehicles to Schooner Wharf. Jim came with us. Liza and her mom were their for a while.i left for home at 11:20 with off and on rain, sometimes downpours. I don't like driving ant night in the rain. Home and bed. Jiggity jig!

Friday
We did devos and picked chores from the hat. I did literature and math with Garrett and Tommy and then it was time to leave for our gig at the Navy base. We left at 2:30.
I should have quit school earlier, because I didn't schedule time to make lunch before we left, so we did the unthinkable. We had to feed Joe, and I knew we wouldn't eat till after 6, so we stopped at Wendy's. We ordered 8 cheeseburgers and 5 chicken sandwiches.
We played for the kids. It was super fun. They had a blast. They jumped and danced and sang. At the end the little girls were giving Ben big hugs. Angelica came too with her kids, and all the Newtons too. Ian and Jake sang "In the Jungle." I'm so glad we played there.
There was a meeting right before us in the building, and they gave us a platter of fruit and another of cheese and crackers, and bottled water. It was just what we needed.
Next we headed to Rob's house. Anastasia made us all pizza. The kids watched Sponge Bob. Then the boys watched hockey and the little kids played hide-and-seek. It was good to sit around and relax. Thanks Rob and Anastasia!
TJ and Ang went grocery shopping. The big kids went to Liza's house.we left for home at 10. I went straight to bed when we got home. I was exhausted.

I had another slow morning with low motivation and ambition. Just tired of being everyone else's motivation.
A friend called and asked if I could take in a pair of pants and hem them for her nephew. They came over and I pulled out my sewing machine. They needed them for tomorrow. It took about an hour and a half I think.
The band went to the studio to work on a photo shoot. Garrett and Tommy tried to not do school. Charlie got his school work done, and then we went to a birthday party at Venture Out for Jaden. I took the three little boys, (reminds me of the three little pigs) Bobby, Shannon, and Alisa. There were a few other families there. We went swimming and had hot dogs and chips. I don't normally eat them but I did today. It was a fun, relaxing time.
As I was driving home I found out that Garrett had gotten cut running and jumping over a chain. He didn't make it over, fell, broke or knocked the chain off, which kind of went flying or something and hit and broke the globe of a light. I'll tell Brenda about it tomorrow.
We got home just as the bigger boys began rolling in from hockey. The kitchen was trashed. I started dishes and made rice and a stir-fry. It was pretty good. More dishes. I recruited help from Garrett and Tommy. I relaxed on the hammock on the porch for a few minutes and then went to bed.

Wednesday
I woke up groggy and decided to walk earlier before it got too hot out. 7:45 I was out walking. I had to make a few boys eat their oatmeal and started school. We got a lot of work done. As we were heading out the door for our gig at Salty's poor Callie fell and got a bump on her head, so TJ stayed home a little longer to help with her. Turned out to be a good thing for Tommy, because he didn't get in the van when I told him to and he got left behind. He was able to ride with TJ.
I had fish tacos and pizza. :0) I got to hang out with some home school moms. Yay!! It was a good night out for me and the little boys got to hang with their friends.
An accident happened on the 7-mile bridge which shut it down about 9 o'clock. The band played longer because we couldn't go anywhere. There was a beautiful breeze and it was very comfortable outside, after the bugs retired for the night.
Shortly after midnight the bridge opened up and we got on the road. We will find out tomorrow what happened. After we got home we found out that someone had broken down on the bridge and now there was another slow down.
Once home, I moved the laundry along, folded towels, gave them some broth without any bread, and whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.
Wait, that's not me. I'm confusing myself with the old woman who lived in a shoe. I wonder, How many shoes are in our doorway when I walk into the house? It's like a contest where you guess how many jellybeans are in a jar. This is way more practical.
Home school math- If every Doerfel wears a pair of socks everyday for a week, how many socks are in the laundry? I don't want to know, that would be depressing. Thank God for sandals and flip flops. :0)

Tuesday
Another slow morning for me. After oatmeal duty I did my second least favorite thing, fold laundry. It really puts me in a bad mood. My number one least favorite thing is getting stuff together to do our taxes. I ordered some new camis, $3.99 a piece.
I was able to escape the drudgery at 12:10 for a lunch date with Connie, her mom, Angelica, and Kim. We went to the Square Grouper. Lush! Kim and I even shared a dessert, a piece of sour cherry rum cheesecake. De-lish!
Before I knew it, I was back home again in the sweat shop folding laundry again. The band went over to set up for the gig at Springers. Tommy and Shannon went to their guitar lesson. I watched Callie an they took Jake to the gig. Then Naomi and Joe came back with Jake. I fed them supper that Angelica left for them and even Jake ate it. They ate it all.
Then Garrett, Tommy, Charlie, and I walked and rode bikes with Jake and Callie over to Springers. Garrett almost got hit by a car. He was on the wrong side of the street in the middle of the lane with his head down messing with his gears.
The little kids sang. We ate some pizza and beignets. The bugs were horrible. Angelica took her kids and Tommy home. Charlie and I stayed (to eat more food) till they were done playing.
When we got home, Tom and Nina were putting together a bunk bed that Nina bought on Craigslist. Ed spent a lot of time cleaning the girls room today. Now it is finally looking good.
I read to the boys just before midnight. We are getting close to the end of our Indian captives' book.
The boys didn't get much schoolwork done today so tomorrow we are doubling up. I can do it if I get an early start.

Monday
We had a muggy night so I woke up feeling yucky and slow. Moved the laundry and tried to help Tommy with his foot. A toenail was ripped off on Friday and today I wanted him to get the bandage off. He soaked it but we couldn't get it off. He's going to try the hot tub next. I hope he doesn't end up needing a doctor. We have had more injuries in 2013 than the last 24 years of kids put together.
We did school till 2:30. Then the boys worked on their own. I hurried off to Winn-Dixie and bought berries, apples, bananas, Romaine lettuce, and frozen fruit. I rushed home to cook some food to eat on the way to Sloppy Joe's and had Garrett make a salad.
We piled in the van and enjoyed the air-conditioning all the way there. When we got there, I had to buy tommy a pair of flip flops because he couldn't wear shoes.
The show was fun. Rob showed up and took the kids for ice cream. Sloppy's was packed. It's fun to watch people having fun, smiling and laughing, and taking pictures.
We stopped at Winn-Dixie on the way home and bought Popsicles for Charlie since he did such a good job tonight.

Sunday
This morning I did not eat oatmeal. I ate breakfast at church and even had a PopTart.
After church I felt creative, so I pulled all my beading stuff out and started beading a dress for Kim that needs to be done by May 11. Kim dropped in and helped me pick out more beads and then she ordered them for me.
Tom, Tommy, Charlie, their friend Jaden, and I went swimming at a friend's house. It was a very relaxing time and they even fed us! What a treat!
Then we hurried home so the boys could play hockey. Tom forgot his glasses so we had to go back and get them. Rob and Jake came to hockey too. I stayed home, of course, and enjoyed my lazy time beading. I did not cook anything today.
When the boys came home from hockey, they ordered 4 pizzas, and Rob brought in 2 dozen donuts. Thanks Rob!
Diana and Toko came over again. I sat beading all evening. When everyone was finally in bed, (about midnight) I did the dishes and threw in a load of wash. Tom called me into our room to show me a bunch of ants in our closet. I gave him the Windex. TJ just sprayed the whole house yesterday. Then I realized I had to make my bed from washing it yesterday before I could go to bed. I hate it when that happens. Last night we just slept on my "Burgoyne Surrounded" quilt. It was so warm and muggy we didn't need any blankets. It was feeling better outside tonight but inside there was only a slight breeze. Angelica saw fans at Walgreens so tomorrow I must go buy some. We are trying to see how long we can go before turning the air on and doubling our electric bill.

Saturday
Kurt needed a ride to Baby's Coffee this morning. He went to the bus stop, but the buses weren't running because there was a runners' race on the 7 Mile Bridge and the bridge was closed for 3 hours this morning.
I took a quick ride to Salvation Army with Ed and Nina. We are waiting on a bed for the girls'/guest/music room. It wasn't in yet. Then we stopped at Bealls. I wanted to buy more fans. It was 86 and humid today but they didn't have any fans.
Today I couldn't get out of the kitchen no matter how hard I tried, other than an occasional stop in the laundry room. I wanted to clean my room and bathroom but it never happened. Tom spilled a cup of tea on our bed last night so I needed to wash the bedding. Ben asked me to wash his tractor quilt also, and I had to wash a peed in bed.
I had to make myself eat oatmeal with a chopped up pear in it. I love pears but I did not want to eat the oatmeal. I wanted to eat cookies and drink coffee, but since we had no cookies I just ate the oatmeal.
I made Ginger Butternut squash soup, Coconut Blackbeans, brown rice, and a salad, but it took me all day. TJ and Angelica invited me down for lunch. That was about 4ish. It was a salad with lentils, peppers, and red onions. It was great! it was also great taking a break and hanging out in their air-conditioned apartment.
At 7 PM the boys, including Rob and Jaden, went to the park to play hockey. Angelica, Jaden's mom Brenda, and I went to Kim's house. Kim fed us super yummy apple crisp and we visited. I sewed the binding on the neck of Callie's crab dress. It's almost done. It just needs buttons and buttonholes. I don't like making buttonholes.
When we got home from Kim's I made the salad. Nina's parents were over and they brought pizza, so there was plenty of food. There were 10 Doerfels, Rob, Shannon. And 7 Newtons.
I cleaned up the kitchen about midnight when they left, took a shower, and went to bed.
I'm taking tomorrow off. No cooking. No laundry. Maybe practice flute, spin, or read. Or all three. :0)

Friday
Woke up at 7, an hour before my alarm, which was ok because I like to hang out by myself in the quiet of the morning. We left for Blue Heaven at 8:30 AM, TJ, Ed, Nina, Ben, Tom, and I.
I spent most of my time there shopping online for that perfect dress for an important event in which we all need to dress in silver and sparkle. I finally picked a dress and I am going to embellish it. I still have to order beads, hopefully tomorrow. I also ordered Tom's clothes. I hope he likes them. He never shops and usually doesn't like what I buy him.
After breakfast, Tom and I went with Rob over to the hammock store and Rob helped me out with a hammock chair for Tom's sister Becky. She saw it when she visited 2 months ago. We are going to take it north with us when we go the end of May.
When the band was done playing, we picked them up and drove home. I made a salad. The band left for Marathon to play at Sunset Grill. I did the dishes. Tommy and I were watching Callie. Garrett went to hockey practice.
At 5:30 Tommy rode a bike to church to help set up for movie night. At 6 o'clock Charlie and I put Callie in the stroller to walk to church. Angelica got home with Jake just as we were leaving so we took Jake too.
Tommy had ripped off a toenail while running around barefoot in the church. Doug had put aside some cotton candy and popcorn for us because last time poor Charlie didn't get cotton candy because it had run out. That was special. Angelica came over too.
After the movie, I sewed the hem on Callie's crab dress. Tom and Kurt came home a little early from the gig. They got rained out towards the end. The rest of the band went to see Brenden's band play at Salty's. I made tacos for Tom and I and when the band did come home they brought a pizza. Good thing for Charlie because cotton candy and popcorn were all he had for dinner.

Thursday
I slept in this morning. It was close to 9 when I woke up, so I did not go walking. We picked chores and did school. I paid some bills. We went to Schooner Wharf tonight. Jake came too. He sang "In the Jungle" with Ian. The crowd loved it! Then Jake played the drum while singing. He really liked playing with Ian tonight. He wanted Ian to come home with us. He was holding Ian's hand and tried to drag him to the car.

This morning I walked to Kim's house. My usual walk to the park is getting boring. It's three miles to Kim's house. Then she drove me home. Everyone did chores half-heartedly today. I swept the screened-in porch. There were too many dead wormy things that came up during the rain and they were all over the porch. Gross!
The boys started school. I folded laundry, like a week and a half's worth. Not fun. I think the things I hate most in life are doing our taxes, and then folding laundry. They both put me in a bad mood.
Finally, Joe found me a screwdriver and I was able to take my grain mill apart, clean it, and grind my first wheat berries. I did it! I made pizza dough. I made a sauce out of peanut butter, garlic, lemon juice, dates, and some spices. I roasted peppers, onions, and mushrooms in the oven. I steamed some broccoli and put it all on the pizza. I'm sad to say it wasn't as yummy as I had hoped, but it was good.
I went over Garrett's math with him. Then he went over to church to work. Tommy and Aaron went too. After Tom and I ate my pizza, we went too.
After church I went to Winn-Dixie to buy a few things. Our fridge is stuffed but I was out of onions, celery, and carrots. I need those every day.
I put the food away. Tom was watching hockey. I sat in my queen's chair and tried to figure out what to do about Kim's silver dress that she needs for an important gig. Costumes! I think we figured it out. Now we have to make it.
I spun some yellow wool and yellow sparkle for a half hour and then read a "Curious George" book to Charlie. I might join Tom in the hot tub, but I don't like going in when I'm already hot.
TJ and family are supposed to be home tonight or tomorrow. I will be glad to have them home again. We missed them.

I caught Kurt and Aaron on the porch this morning with an air soft gun. I could hear them shooting through my window. They were trying to be quiet, but not quiet enough for these ears! :0)
I did my devos and went walking. I got to sit on the wicker swing a few minutes with Tom before cracking the whip. We picked chores from the chore hat. While chores were just getting under way, Aaron shot Charlie with an air soft gun in the head, next to his eye. He said he didn't know it was loaded. I tried to explain some gun safety, again. They just don't get it. They are not ready for air soft guns. I will have to get rid of them.
Because of the gun accident, Tom grounded the boys from gym class today. So we had more time to get our school work done.
Tommy and Shannon went to lessons with Doug. I made a salad and some sweet and sour swiss chard. The big boys got ready for their gig at Springers. Doug picked up my produce for me and dropped it off. Then I had to make it fit in the fridge. I hate that part.
I went over to Springers. I was surprised to find so many people there now that it's not season. Charlie sang "Charlie Brown" by himself for the first time. We met some new neighbors at the show that live across the street.
Ben wore Tom's boot from his broken ankle today, because Ben hurt his foot yesterday. I don't even know how. While they were packing up tonight, he closed a lid on a finger. We have had way too many injuries this year.
I walked home. and chatted with a friend on the phone while laying in the hammock. The younger boys took too long getting ready for bed, and the big boys watched a hockey game.

Monday
I woke up an hour early this morning. Did my devos and read for an hour. I tried to wake Joe up at 9 to walk with me but he was too tired.
After my walk, I showered and made breakfast for Joe, Charlie, and me. After bugging Garrett for 1 1/2 hours, he finally got up and made himself a grilled cheese sandwich, and Tommy ate a leftover peanut butter and jelly from yesterday.
Tommy did all his independent schoolwork while I did the dishes. I did school with Charlie and then literature with Tommy and Garrett. We are reading a book called "Alone, yet not Alone." It's about two sisters captured by Indians during the French and Indian War.
I took a few minute break to sit on the wicker swing and drink some water and I heard a loud noise, a loud motorcycle, and then a man yelling. I peeked around the corner of the house. He was towing a long camper and didn't take the turn wide enough. The camper had hit the stop sign, scratching down the side and damaging the wheel well. I felt so bad for the guy. He was so upset. I asked if I could do anything to help, but of course there was really nothing I could do. Then Ben came down and held the sign down so the man could get unstuck. He said he had just bought it one block away. It was his first time towing. He was supposed to tow it all the way to Miami and didn't know how he was going to do it.
After that we finished school and got ready to leave for Sloppy Joes. Bobby made macaroni and cheese before we left and they all chowed down.
Gale and Kelly brought a crew of people to the show. There was also the owner of the music store in WNY where the boys used to take lessons when they were little. What a cool surprise!

Sunday
I woke Tommy and Charlie up earlier today to go to the 9:30 service. The big kids did worship today, and I stayed thru worship in the next service. Then Charlie and I rode our bikes home to get ready to leave for our gig. I made 7 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a giant salad. Joe half filled the 5 gallon water cooler with water so we could add ice when we stopped for gas.
Jim went with us. Charlie and I were disappointed that Rob didn't
make it. Kim was a little late. Charlie and I rode with her. She drove separate so she could get home sooner.
The drive was 1 hour, 15 minutes to Bay Jam in Islamorada. It was a good gig, but the band had some technical difficulties with the sound so they were disappointed. I told them nothing was wasted. Everything is a learning experience. They met some new people.
One of my favorite Key's artists was there, Noel Skiba. She painted three pictures during the kids' set, up front next to the stage. Very cool!
Kim left with Ben and Kurt. I had a little too much sun and set up camp in the shade outside the van and did more sewing on Callie's dress. Tom took Charlie swimming at the beach right there. Finally, Ed and Nina found them and we went home.

Saturday
Too tired and slow to walk today. I did go in the hot tub this morning. Tom went to work in Key West and dropped Garrett and Tommy off at a friend's birthday party. Garrett got picked up there and taken to his hockey game. About 3:30 Kim arrived and we left for Hogfish. We had to pick up Tommy on the way. The night went faster than usual for me. I smocked on Callie's dress almost the whole time. The gig was 6-10 PM. We arrived home sometime after 11. I collapsed into bed but the boys watched some hockey.

Friday
This was another slow morning, rainy and cool. I went with Tom to Dick's shop and dropped Tom off to pick up his car. It had a broken belt that the shop fixed and after Tom brought it home I think he fixed a fan. School was a little hard because Charlie was trying to revert back to his bratty self. We had many interruptions but finally finished. I made a trip to Winn-Dixie just to get out of the house and be alone. Then I went to Kim's house and dropped off a dress I bought her. She gave me all her beads. I'm going to put beads on a dress for her. When I got home, I made Cuban beans and rice for supper. I plied and skeined my yarn. I was kind of crabby and went to bed without doing the dishes.
We didn't have a gig today. It was good to have two days off in a row.

Thursday
Two things I forgot to mention from yesterday. TJ and family left on a trip to CA for a week, and last night after church we watched "The Hobbit."
I woke up during the night to a horrible thunderstorm. With all the booms and crashes and lights flashing I had a hard time falling back asleep. There was also a torrential downpour.
We had a great day of school. Charlie was an angel because he wanted to get his iPad and PSP back. I made leek and potato soup and a salad for lunch. It poured quite a bit today.
The band practiced again. When school was over, I started supper; brown rice, and I chopped all the vegetables for stir fry. Ed went to the store for me and bought a few things for me to make Kurt's birthday cake. I baked that and tried making these Oreo peanut butter cup things dipped in chocolate. That was a major fail. I couldn't find good chocolate wafers down here and the ones I bought hardened up all clumpy. So I used chocolate chips and made just one good one for Kurt. I did the birthday stuff while the boys played hockey at the park. Garrett helped me because he didn't have his hockey equipment and couldn't play hockey.
I was tired out by the time they came back. Supper was ready at 9 PM. (We work 2nd shift remember). They started to eat and Tom started loudly complaining about something he didn't like, and then about Joe and his diet. For me, it ruined dinner and Kurt's birthday party. I never even got his cake out of the fridge. The boys all watched hockey. I went to my room and spun some gorgeous, colorful yarn. One of the boys got the cake out. I didn't have any, but I did do the dishes. I hate ending the day on a sour note.

Wednesday
My alarm went off at 8 this morning. I got myself ready to take Joe to his Dr. appt here in Big Pine. I had to wake Joe up 3 times before he finally got up, but we made it to his appt on time because it was barely 5 minutes away.
His blood sugar was normal and I didn't really learn anything new. I was hoping to get a confirmation that his low blood sugar was causing his seizures. His seizures have been a month apart, which if they stay on that timetable he would be due for another one any day now. He has been eating better and not skipping meals. I am soooo hoping he never has another one.
His Dr. Bills from his ambulance ride are around $5000. No insurance. I paid $280 for his appt with the neurosurgeon and $180 today for the family practitioner. Now I have to reschedule an appt for an EEG that will be $350, and take him for bloodwork.
I came home from his appt and made oatmeal and fruit for 3 of us, and made omelettes for Garrett and Bobby again. The Dr. told me today that oatmeal doesn't have enough protein for breakfast. so when we got home we added everything up, the oats, flax seed, wheat germ, and almond milk came to 15 grams. how much should he have? I had a headache but didn't want to take anything. I took a break and drank my coffee and read in my chair.
I watered plants and tried to do school. The boys did their computer work and I went over Tommy's math with him. I almost made it through Charlie's schoolwork but he was acting so bad that he lost his iPad and PSP and computer privileges for the rest of the day. By then I was so grumpy that I sent the kids home from school early. Ha! That just means we didn't finish.
I laid down in my room for a short while and then made oatmeal raisin cookies with applesauce, no eggs, maple syrup, and whole wheat flour. None of the kids like raisins so they are all for me! I did that on purpose. I also had beans simmering today on the stove for tomorrow's menu.
The band practiced around 12:30 and then had worship practice. They came home about 5:30 while I was finishing the cookies. Garrett and Tommy rode their bikes to church. I ate yesterday's leftover salad, and then Charlie and I rode bikes to church. The band went back to church at 6:45 and they did worship tonight. Tom's car broke down and he had to have it towed so he never made it.
After church, a few kids went to Winn Dixie for treats and then we watched The Hobbit. They all went to bed and I had some quiet time in my hammock chair smelling Midnight Jasmine and listening to the wind chimes.

Tuesday
This morning Joe was too tired to get up. I let him sleep in and woke up Garrett instead. Garrett and I walked to get his hair cut, and then we walked the mile to Winn-Dixie to buy berries for breakfast. We bought strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. We took one of the dirt roads home. It reminded me a little of the good old days in East Eden, out in the country. But in a few minutes we were back in civilization.
I made oatmeal for Joe, Tommy, Charlie and I, and then an omelette for Garrett and Bobby. The band left at about 12:15 to go practice again. Garrett and tommy did their history and we piled into the GMC to go to gym class.
Tommy's knee was bugging him. He said he hurt it falling out of bed a few days ago. He's on the middle bunk of three story bunk bed. So he didn't participate in PE. It was a gorgeous day, hot in the sun, cool in the shade.
After PE we zipped over to Home Depot for D-Con and bug spray for my plants on the porch. We got home famished. I chopped up salad fixings. The boys ate soup and bread and butter. Last week I got the attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer to grind wheat berries. Now I am waiting for the wheat berries to come in the mail so I can try it out. Then they can eat homemade bread.
Guitar lessons were cancelled. I watched Jake and Callie while TJ and Ang got ready and left for their gig at Springers. We did a little more school work. Charlie finished all of his work but was a punk the whole time.
Callie fell asleep at 6:30. Tom got home from work and we took the younger boys to Springers and left Callie sleeping with Garrett in charge. Jake had a hard time, first wanting pop and he couldn't have any, and then waiting for his French fries to cook. Tom went back to the house and brought Jake's guitar. That helped some. He also brought Callie, who had woken up from her nap. She was fussy and stayed on my lap.
The no-see-ems were horrible. Big spray didn't seem to help at all. We had some pizza and beignets. The gig ended and we went home, to a disaster.
I picked up a bunch of magnetic letters that Jake had played with, and did the dishes. Tommy helped me dry. I put the D-Con in the cupboard where some critter has been nibbling on our food supply. Now I'm trying to decide between the hot tub or shower to wash off the bug spray and sweat and to relieve my itchy bug bites.

Monday
This morning I went walking with Joe, showered, and made 4 bowls of oatmeal. We were out of berries so Joe and I had mango, kiwi, and apples in ours. Tommy ate his with applesauce, and Charlie ate his with a tablespoon of brown sugar. I'm trying to find a fruit he likes to sweeten it with instead of sugar. His time is running out. If he doesn't pick something he might be eating it plain.
Kurt somehow missed his bus from Liza's house and had to take a taxi from Baby's Coffee to Big Pine, a costly mistake, $88.00 for that ride!
Band practice was at noon. They practiced originals, getting ready for the Bay Jam Festival in Islamorada.
Garrett and I picked up the trashed living room. He threw out the cardboard mountain by the door. We moved the furniture and swept up the dirt, garbage, Lego, and math manipulatives.
Tommy and Garrett did their history and vocab on the computer while I did math and phonics with Charlie. At 2:30 I chopped onions, bok choy, and Swiss chard for my lunch.
The band came back to hurry to get ready to leave for Sloppy Joes at 3:30. I grabbed my cooked veggies, my salad, the boys iPads and PSPs, my knitting, and Garrett and Tommy's math books.
Ed had bought a new display stand for CDs and stickers and the TV, so Ed had to set it up. The kids ordered food and I got the CDs set up. During the first song I got a text from Rob to meet him across the street for a taco. I jumped at the chance to escape from everyone.
Sloppy's was packed all night. The kids were great. Gale and Kelly showed up and we were all happy to see them. We drove home, the boys playing games and Tom talking.
Here's a pic of my spinning from yesterday.
